Terms of service

These terms are the agreement between you and WriterDean for the service at writerdean.com, the app under /app, the API, the MCP server. Each section opens with a plain words summary. The summary explains the section; the full text is what applies.

In effect from Sep 25, 2026. Questions to hello@writerdean.com.

Signed and sealed. The same signature closes every piece the service writes.
  1. 1.Who we are and what these terms cover

    WriterDean (we, us) provides the WriterDean service: the website, the web application, the public API, the MCP server, the emails the service sends. These terms apply to every part of it.

    By creating an account, joining a workspace or sending a request to the API, you accept these terms. If you do so on behalf of a company or another organisation, you confirm that you have the authority to bind it. Both you and it are then bound.

    Questions about these terms go to hello@writerdean.com.

  2. 2.Your account and your workspace

    You sign in with an email address and a password, a one time code sent to that address, or a Google or GitHub account. You keep your sign in to yourself and tell us at once if you think someone else has used it.

    Your first sign in creates a workspace with you as its owner. A workspace holds brands, content, runs and their traces, members, integrations, API keys, a plan. The owner and the admins decide who joins, in which role, and can remove members, revoke keys or delete the workspace.

    You must be at least 16 years old to use the service. If you are under the age at which you can agree to terms in your country, a parent or guardian must agree for you.

  3. 3.Plans, credits, payment

    The free plan costs nothing and includes the limits shown on the pricing page. Paid plans bill a subscription in advance, every 1, 3, 6 or 12 months, through Stripe or PayPal. Prices are in US dollars and exclude tax.

    The service meters writing in credits: one credit is one hundred words of finished output, counted when a run finishes. Each plan includes a number of credits a month. On plans that meter overage, credits above the included number bill at the plan's per credit rate after the month ends. On plans that do not, new runs pause until the month resets.

    You can change or cancel a plan from the Billing page at any time. A cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period; the plan stays on until then, and the workspace moves to the free plan afterwards with its content intact. We do not refund the unused part of a period unless the law where you live requires it or we agree to it in writing.

    If a payment fails, the subscription becomes past due. The plan stays on while the processor retries. If the processor gives up, the subscription ends at the paid period.

    The billing reference at /docs/payments describes plans, credits, seats, overage, invoices, cancellation in detail and forms part of these terms.

  4. 4.Your content

    You own the briefs, brand documents, writing samples, keywords and other material you put into the service (your input), and you own the text with its titles and metadata, and every other output the service produces for you (your output). We claim no rights in either.

    You give us the licence we need to run the service: to store your input and output, to send your input to the model providers named in the privacy notice so they can generate output, to run the pipeline's checks on it, to show it to the members of your workspace, and to publish it to the destinations you connect when you or a member asks. That licence ends when you delete the content.

    You are responsible for your input and your output. You confirm that your input does not infringe anyone's rights, and you review output before you publish it. The pipeline marks claims it could not source and scores the text, but it does not replace your judgement.

    Output from the same brief may be similar to output another customer receives from a similar brief. We do not promise that output is unique, and we do not promise that it is free of errors.

  5. 5.Our content and our marks

    The software, the skills the pipeline runs, the templates, the interface, the documentation, the WriterDean name, the mark: all of it belongs to us or to our licensors. These terms give you the right to use them through the service for as long as you have an account, and nothing more.

    You may not copy, sell, sublicense or reverse engineer the service, or use it to build a service that competes with it. You may not use our name or mark to suggest we endorse your content.

  6. 6.Acceptable use

    You agree not to use the service to:

    • produce or publish content that is unlawful where you or your readers are, that infringes someone's rights, that is defamatory, or that is intended to deceive readers about who wrote it or what it sells;
    • impersonate a person or an organisation, or present output as the work of someone who did not approve it;
    • send unsolicited bulk messages, or generate content for that purpose;
    • attempt to disable or work around the humanizer pass, the quality gates, the rate limits, the plan limits or any other control in the service;
    • probe, scan or test the service for vulnerabilities without our written agreement, or access data that is not yours;
    • resell access to the service, share one account between people, or share an API key outside your workspace.
  7. 7.The API, the MCP server, the keys

    The API and the MCP server are available on the plans that include them. A key acts with the permissions of the member who created it, so everything that member may do in the app, the key may do, within its scopes. You are responsible for every request made with your keys, and you revoke a key at once if it may have leaked.

    Requests are subject to the rate limits and the error codes described in the API reference at /docs/api. We may change the API with notice on that page. We keep the routes under /v1 stable and add new fields without removing old ones; when we must remove something, we say so on the reference page at least thirty days ahead.

  8. 8.Services you connect

    You can connect publishing destinations such as a content management system, a social account or a webhook endpoint of your own. By connecting one, you authorise us to store the credentials it needs, encrypted, and to publish, update or remove content there when you or a member of your workspace asks.

    Each connected service has its own terms, which apply to what you publish there. We are not responsible for a connected service refusing a request, changing its interface or removing content.

  9. 9.Availability and changes to the service

    We aim to keep the service available at all times, and the status page at /status shows live checks of its parts. We do not promise uninterrupted availability. Planned maintenance is announced on the status page where we can announce it ahead.

    We improve the service continually. We may add, change or remove features. Where a change removes something you rely on, or changes the price of a plan, we give notice by email or in the app at least thirty days before it takes effect, and you may cancel before then.

  10. 10.Ending the agreement

    You can export your workspace as JSON from Settings and delete the workspace from the same page at any time. Deleting a workspace removes its brands, its content, its runs and traces, its integrations, its members. It cannot be undone.

    We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, if the law requires it, or if a payment stays unpaid after the processor has given up. Where we can, we warn you first and give you time to put it right.

    The sections on content and on liability continue to apply after the agreement ends, and so does the section on disputes.

  11. 11.Warranties and liability

    The service is provided as is and as available. We do not warrant that it is free of errors, that output is accurate, complete, original or suitable for a particular purpose, or that it meets the requirements of any law that applies to your content. Output produced by language models can be wrong and can read as confident while being wrong. You are responsible for checking it.

    To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, lost data, or loss arising from content you publish. Our total liability to you for all claims under these terms is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose, or one hundred US dollars if you paid nothing.

    Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

  12. 12.Questions and disputes

    If something goes wrong, write to hello@writerdean.com and describe it. We answer, and we try to put it right before anything else happens.

    The law of the country in which WriterDean has its seat governs these terms, and that country's courts have jurisdiction, except where the consumer law of the country where you live gives you the right to bring a claim at home.

  13. 13.Changes to these terms

    We may change these terms. When we do, we update the date at the top of this page, and for changes that reduce your rights or add obligations we tell you by email or in the app at least thirty days before they take effect. Using the service after that date means you accept the new terms. If you do not, you can stop using the service and delete your workspace before the date.
